Internal Wall Insulation

Internal Wall Insulation, better known as Dry Lining is the term used for a common method of constructing internal walls and ceilings using panels made of gypsum plaster pressed between two thick sheets of paper, then kiln dried. Many such panels are made with fiberglass instead of paper to prevent mold growth, which is common with paper that has been exposed to water due to plumbing leaks or floods.

Drywall construction is used globally for the finish construction of interior walls and ceilings. In the case of our interior wall insulation services, we would by applying the plasterboard to an existing wall and the new insulation would be placed beneath that.

With Government Internal Wall Insulation Grants available through the SEI (Up to €2500 for Internal Wall Dry Lining), now has never been a better time to upgrade your home insulation.

If your home is built using solid wall or hollow block construction methods, cavity fill insulation is not an option. Internal insulation (sometimes referred to as 'dry- lining') involves fixing insulation to the inner surfaces of your external walls. This usually involves fixing an insulation board to the walls and covering it with a vapour barrier layer and plasterboard. One of the main disadvantages of internal insulation is the loss of room space; this may be minimised by using high performance insulation products that are thinner. While this is often a more affordable option than installing external wall insulation, the loss of space and potential necessity to take out and re-fit fitted kitchens and appliances can result in people choosing the external insulation option.

Gypsum Interior Wall Insulation

Gyproc wall linings also known as Drywall Insulation or Dry Lining provide a high quality dry internal finish to existing brick, block, or concrete walls, or timber frame. They can be used in all types of buildings, including private housing, flats and apartments, commercial, institutional and recreational properties. The linings are equally suited to both new-build and refurbishment work.

The range covers all applications from a basic wallboard lining through to high performance linings designed to meet thermal insulation, sound insulation, fire protection, or impact resistance requirements.

Gyproc board linings are relatively lightweight, and have a low thermal capacity. In conditions of intermittent heating, they will warm up quickly, providing early comfort conditions for the occupants, and will help reduce the risk of harmful surface condensation.

Gyproc GypLyner Internal Wall Insulation

GypLyner metal frame Dry Lining / Internal Wall Insulation system is a cost-effective, virtually independent metal frame Internal Wall Lining or Insulation. It is a general purpose system which is non-loadbearing and suitable for all internal applications. It can be used in all building types ranging from private houses to large commercial developments. Its inherent versatility makes it equally suitable as a wall lining and ceiling lining.

GypLyner is based on a lightweight metal frame clad with Gyproc plasterboards or thermal laminates. By maintaining up to 100mm clear cavity to the wall, it readily facilitates the incorporation of services. The virtually independent framework enables GypLyner to be used over all types of wall. It can be used to correct irregularities in the background, and generally no preparation work is required.

Ease of handling and simple construction techniques make GypLyner one of the quickest and most easily assembled Dry Lining systems currently available.

Gyproc GypLyner IWL - Interior Wall Insulation

GypLyner IWL independent Interior Wall Lining is a lightweight, non-loadbearing dry internal wall lining which is erected independently of the external wall construction. The system is used in all types of building, but is particularly suitable for those with reinforced concrete or steel frames. The wall lining provides fire resistance to structural steel sections clad with lightweight metal sheeting, and can also be used in association with new or existing masonry walls to increase sound insulation and meet thermal performance requirements.

GypLyner IWL is based on a Gyproc I stud framework lined with Gyproc plasterboard. Gyproc C studs are used at abutments, junctions, and openings. MoyTherm Batts are included in the stud cavity to provide a high standard of thermal and sound insulation.

The lining can protect structural steel columns either within the cavity or by encasement, and will accommodate service ducts and penetrations.

Gypsum DriLyner - Internal Wall Dry Lining

DriLyner systems provide simple and effective techniques for fixing Gyproc plasterboards or Gyproc thermal laminates to brick, block, and concrete walls. They can be used in all building types in both new-build and refurbishment work.

DriLyner BASIC, DriLyner TL, and DriLyner MF systems all use the principle of gypsum adhesive dabs to bond boardsdirectly to the wall. Secondary mechanical fixings are required when installing laminates.

DriLyner BASIC - dry lining using Gyproc Wallboard, Gyproc Duraline or Gyproc Moisture Resistant.

DriLyner TL - dry lining using Gyproc Thermal laminates.

The DriLyner MF system facilitates the fixing of Gyproc plasterboards or thermal laminates to lightweight MF10 metal furring channels, which are bonded to internal masonry wall surfaces using Gyproc Compound. When using the DriLyner MF system, care must be taken with solid in-situ walls, solid concrete panel walls, heavy block, or no-fines walls, as thermal bridging may occur which could result in screwhead pattern staining.

The DriLyner RF system provides a method of fixing boards directly to solid internal walls, including directly to plastered walls in a refurbishment situation, using blobs of Gyproc Sealant. The DriLyner RF system should only be used on suitably pretreated dry, sound, plastered wall surfaces, or fair-faced concrete, brick, or block walls, without major irregularities.

All DriLyner systems provide a low maintenance, low thermal capacity lining which responds quickly to heating and provides early room comfort conditions. The Interior Wall Insulation is quick to install with minimum drying time. Services can be incorporated with minimum chasing.
